Wonderful book of the architecture of the US Capitol building. Has many picture and history. I had the pleasure of being able to tour the complete building without limits back 25 years ago before the world became so dangerous.

The book has pictures of rooms that I saw that are no longer available to the public.5/5(14). The United States Capitol Building: The History and Legacy of the Seat of Congress looks at the winding history of the building and how it has changed over time.

Along with pictures of important people, places, and events, you will learn about the Capitol like never before, in no time at all/5(3). This was a nice book that I have been reading on and off between a number of other titles. After a basic introduction comparing state houses, each chapter is basically a few pages dedicated to text and beautiful photographs highlighting the history, design, and decor of all fifty capitol buildings for the states/5.

Going from the history of the capitol site to the vision of not only the architect, but also the thematic consultant, sculptors, and artisans, the book is extremely thorough in describing how the Capitol Building came into being. One of the best articles would be Dale L. Gibbs on Lee Lawrie, the sculptor.4/5(1).

The Capitol is a real triumph, a gorgeous building that does everything architecture can do to inspire hand-over-the-heart patriotic feelings. Underneath that magnificent dome are wings that are beautifully proportioned and decorated, and it comes as a surprise to learn just how much the building consists of additions that were never anticipated when its first stone was laid in /5(7).

The Art Nouveau movement began in the s, spreading the idea that art should be a part of everything around us. This rather revolutionary movement confronted the eclectic historical styles and the precise geometry of neoclassical forms with great elegance and soon became synonymous with progress, influencing a number of artists who started using various elements of this modern art style.
